My research explores the work of Chester-based, 20th century stained glass artist Trena Cox (1895-1980)
My passion for her work developed from seeing her beautiful windows in the south-west corner of the Cloister of Chester Cathedral. Unfortunately little is known of Trena's life - I would love to know where she found her inspiration. Sensitively drawn faces are combined with vibrant colour and a wealth of pattern. Her landscapes teem with life - birds perch in trees, butterflies hover around tiny flowers and fish leap out of rivers. It is these details that bring vitality and character to her designs.
